fill in the blank friday

1.   If I could get away somewhere for the weekend I would go  to Cannon Beach. Oh wait, I did do that! Even though it's a bit cold and wet, there's nothing like the beauty of Oregon. and I would bring my family. Like I did today.

2.  Something I often rant about is  our justice system. Heavy topic, I know, but I'll never understand it. I do realize it's better than most countries but, sometimes, I'd really like it if we could adopt the "eye for an eye" method. Kill someone? See ya? Rape someone? Off goes your thingy. You know what I mean?

3.  One item I need to have in my fridge at all time is   milk. I don't drink it daily but if it's not there I freak out. Gotta have it!

4.  My "life-saving" product is foundation. I love how it evens out my color, especially since I quit tanning. Bahumbug.

5.  A friend is someone who  respects you.

6.  If I could write my own blank it would be : The number one thing on my bucket list is: Visiting Hawaii.

7.  My favorite kind of art is  black and white photography. There's something captivating about being able to capture moments in time - I'll never quite understand how it works!

etsy is dangerous

I never go to Etsy, mainly because I find too many good things I want to buy. But I found myself browsing it this morning and found these prints that I LOVE. Believe it or not, I went on a major hunt about a year ago for prints just like these. And never found anything I liked. You always find what you want when you aren't looking.

What do you think? I'd still have to get them framed..

Nesting

Since leaving home for college, I have moved 6 times in the last 7 years. And I'm doing it again this summer, because my current apartment is driving me crazy. It's oddly designed, dark, and simply depressing. And I couldn't get my couch in. I've decided on a place in NW Portland, so I just need to cross my fingers that I can snag a unit. I'm super excited to move into a bigger and nicer place. I'm more excited to paint and decorate!

I stumbled across Nesting Place from Brittany over at My ABC Soup and it's very inspiring for DIY decor. Her taste is a little different than I, but there are bits I really love - like those striped curtains and the pop of white accessories and furniture.

is it the end of the world?

I wasn't able to do this last Friday, because Blogger was down. And tomorrow is supposed to be the end of the world, literally, so this may be the last of these. I almost wish Blogger was down today - that would have made for such good comedic content. Ah well.

2011 AD—On May 21st, Judgment Day will begin and the rapture (the taking up into heaven of God’s elect people) will occur at the end of the 23-year great tribulation. On October 21st, the world will be destroyed by fire (7000 years from the flood; 13,023 years from creation).

I think the world will combust at some point - by a large astroid or something - but it's not happening tomorrow. And if it is? What am I gonna do about it?

Let's get on with the blanks!

People always tell me I look like  another person they've met. At UO, I always got told "you look exactly like this other chick I just met. Do you have a twin?" Ugh.
Friends don't let friends date guys that are tools.
A sunny day is perfect for  exploring Oregon, if it's my day off. Or a slow walk to Starbucks if I'm stuck in the office.

My favorite accessory is my gold diamond ring I wear on the index finger of my right hand. It was passed down to me, and I've worn it (almost) religiously since I was 16.

If I could afford it I would buy a vacation home along the Oregon Coast. That would be awesome.
The cure for boredom is sleeping. Kidding. I usually call a friend and go do something.

I am currently "in like" with  raspberry italian sodas, sundresses and anything that comes in the color coral.

cigarette pants

I've been jonesing for a pair of cigarette pants for awhile now but can't seem to find a pair I love. I would like them in black, but would love them in an array of colors if that's not asking too much. Anyone have any tips on where I can snag a pair that are somewhat inexpensive?

Audrey Hepburn made these infamous and I just love how classic and elegant they look. And they are extremely versatile.

This picture has been floating around the Internet and it's too good not to share. I grabbed this from @Knikitta.

where I wish I was wednesday

About this same time last year I was coming back from a lovely week in Paris. How I wish I could be there now! I could use some cheese and wine right about now. : )

weekend recap

Happy Monday! I'm actually quite grumpy today, if I'm being honest. I had an emotional weekend, for various reasons, and I'm not ready be back at the office. I'm not even gonna pretend.

I was able to spend the day at Cannon Beach on Friday with some of my colleagues. I am fortunate to work at a place that cares about giving back and gives us all volunteer hours to use each year at the establishment(s) of our choosing. I try to volunteer at least twice a year. This round we chose SOLV Oregon, an effort I've always wanted to help. Walking along the beach picking up trash is my kind of gig!

Mostly we found pieces of plastic that washed up, but we also picked up a lot of rope, a comb, and an abandoned kite. Overall the beach was pretty clean, which was great to see. We also ran into an old house that had slipped down and was nearly in pieces. After climbing inside, you could tell people were camping out there. Lots of food wrappings, silverware and other oddities. It was hella creepy. I refused to touch anything.

On Sunday, I celebrated Mother's Day with my stepmon and grandma. We put together our own tea, with scones and little sandwiches. It was a really nice day, though a tad sad for me, as I lost my mom 12 years ago. Blessed to have a new family though!

How was your weekend?

happy mothers day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there! I lost my own mom when I was just 13, and I miss her everyday, but especially today. But I'm blessed to have an amazing stepmom and step family, who I celebrated with today.

Cheers to all moms, of all kinds. : D

that's what she said

Funny. Bizarre. Cringe-worthy. Offensive.

One of my favorite shows is The Office. I loved it before I started working in cube land and even more now that I can really relate. I was disappointed to hear Steve Carell was leaving the show. A huge mistake, I think. Who does that?

Bringing on Will Farrell, even temporarily, was an even bigger mistake. First off, I can't stand the actor. I don't think he's funny. He doesn't fit in with the vibe of the show. I thought he was pretty great in the initial episode, to my surprise, but then it went downhill fast. They aren't episodes I'll probably ever watch again.

I was also disappointed with how they departed Michael Scott. It was awkward and very unfunny. And if it's not going to be funny, it should at least be emotional. The only bit of emotion was when Jim started tearing up in Michael's office. We needed more of that!

Especially if Carell wanted to finally land an Emmy for his work. Poor guy!

I have a hunch he makes a surprise appearance in a future episode. Anyone wanna make a bet? : )

"I love inside jokes. I'd love to be a part of one someday."

"Sometimes I'll start a sentence and I don't know where it's going. I just hope to find it somewhere along the way. Like an improv conversation. An improversation."

"First up, the lost and found has gone missing. It itself, is lost. So please try not to lose anything until we find it."

What's your favorite Michael Scott quote?

may flowers

It's finally May. Is it me, or was April really, really long? May is actually not a great month for me, historically. It's when all my big break-ups have happened. It's also when I accidently got involved in a cult. Seriously. (another story for another time) So, I'm holding my hat that nothing too dramatic will happen in the coming weeks. PLEASE GOD.

Anyways,  how was your weekend? I welcomed the sun on Sunday and planted flowers in my pretty pots. Unfortunately, both neighbors have huge dogs that decided to bark at me the entire time. Like two feet from my head. I joked "this is so peaceful!" to every passerby. They laughed. The joke didn't get old. I wanted to chuck my gardening shovel at both dogs. I didn't, don't worry.

Have you planted flowers this season?
