The Virtual Knife

There has been quite a bit of controversy lately around how Photoshop is being used to alter the personalities on covers of magazines and in advertising. Accused edits include enhanced breasts, small waists and hips, lighter skin, etc. This most recently came to a head with Gabourey Sidibe, star of Precious, and this month’s cover of Elle.

Gaby’s case is definitely not extreme – and it may not be true – but the cover has definitely sparked a much need discussion around ethics.

Kids these days..

I'm horrified that these kid's parents let them do these reenactments. However, I do watch reality TV and these videos are HILARIOUS and spot on. I love Scott from the Kardashian episode, and Jwow from Jersey Shore. Brilliant.

Fashion Week kicks off today in New York City, where an anticipated crowd of more than 230,000 will preview Spring and Summer 2011 collections from the likes of Isaac Mizrahi, Vera Wang, and newcomer Christian Siriano among many talented others. The twice-a-year trade shows generates more than $770 million in economic activity in NYC, according to IMG Fashion. That’s a lot of Jimmy Choo shoes and Louis Vuitton purses!
